I checked out the Library's Facebook, Foursquare, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and G+ page. It's great that we are on so many platforms but it seems like a lot to maintain and stay current with (on our end.) We seem to do the best with Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
I think we could add some boards to our Pinterest page--ECCR, STEAM, Rhymes.

Thing 8 - Presentations
Here is my presentation on All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven (YA NIVEN).
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1-SQfKk6NkkhBQ3tYiabaAGoPK8NtFiVL2_PYE8IJLbs/edit?usp=sharing
I used Google Slides. I started making this presentation on my iphone but was very limited when it came to inserting images. The only choices I had were to use my camera or my photos. I consulted Ginny, Lynda.com and did a Google search to find out about adding images to Google slides using an iphone. After wasting a lot of time, I switched to the online version of Google slides to complete this "thing." Not sure if this was really the point, but I was getting very frustrated.

Thing 7 - Saving and Sharing Docs
I downloaded Dropbox to my computer and got the app on my phone. I shared a document with a co-worker. I also uploaded some of my work files (by dragging them to the Dropbox) so now I can access them when I'm not at work. This was easy and that made me happy!

Thing 6

I used Google docs (obviously) and thought this would make it easy since Blogger is Google's platform. However, I had a heck of a time figuring out how to post my story to my blog. I thought Google docs would have an option to share it or post it to blogger. It didn't (at least not that I could find) exactly. You have to share the link, so that's what I did.

Thing 5 - Notetaking
I already have a Productivity app on my iPhone that I use to set reminders and make notes, so I was going to get the Bamboo paper digital notebook so that I could use my finger. The Samsung Galaxy commercials make it look so fun! But Bamboo paper seems intended for use on an iPad not an iPhone
So i installed Remember the Milk app to see if its any better than what I'm already using. I did like the ease with which I could assign the task to a day and the options I had for editing it.
I also came across the Memopad app which I installed. This allows me to draw or write and then share.

Thing 4 - Feedly
Got the Feedly app, but immediately ran into trouble. I wanted to follow the No Flying No Tights blog but when I searched "no flying no tights" and then tried "noflyingnotights.com" it said, "No feeds found. If you are looking for a specific site or feed, please enter the full url." Hmmm...
Thanks for nothing Feedly. I will continue on because this would actually be useful for me since one of my annual goals is to keep up on relevant blogs. Right now I do it by going through my bookmarked ones periodically (Jbrary is one of my favorites for storytimes) or subscribing to blogs that send emails (i.e. Early World and ALSC).

Thing 3
I got the Stand app and it's pretty basic, but since it's free I shouldn't complain. I chose it because I don't like being sedentary, but the YSD s usually a "happening" spot. I actually get a pretty good workout when I do storytimes.
I put in the day I work, the time, how often I wanted be reminded to stand, my location and chose the freebie play alert. I wanted the pug sound but didn't want to pay the minimum tip of 99 cents.
My reminder to Stand Up! will be coming on Tuesday so we'll see what happens.

Thing 2
I watched parts of "iOS 8: iPhone and iPad Essential Training with Garrick Chow." How can one person know so much?!
I've always known that my phone has secrets and capabilities that I have never tapped into, so here's a few things I learned: (I'm sure it's just the tip of an enormous iceberg.)
1) The orientation lock is only available in the control center. I can't decide if I want my orientation locked or not, but now I know where to do it.
2) I turned off access to the control center from the lock screen because Garrick says if your phone is stolen they (the thief) can put it in airplane mode and then it can't be traced.
3) In Maps app, a single tap with 2 fingers will zoom out.
4) With the keyless keyboard, if your finger is still on the keyboard and the wrong letter pops us you can slide to the correct letter.
5) Hold down the 1.2.3 button and slide finger to add parenthesis (or whatever character) and when you pick up your finger you will be returned to the keyboard
6) Two spaces after sentence will automatically insert a period.
7) Double click shift key for caps lock.
8) Undo by shaking phone.
9) For special characters (i.e. cafe with accent mark), hold down E and choices will appear.
10) To automatically send calls to VM when phone is locked/asleep, double click sleep/wake button. There is no choice to ignore call when it rings and phone is locked/asleep.
That's all for now....Thanks Garrick.

Now I'm trying a post from my phone. I hope I will learn some cool, new apps with this 19 mobile apps program.
